Saturday 1st September - 8:00 pm
Sealed up and forgotten, under Penzance promenade, lies the old underground swimming pool….… but not quite forgotten.
Want to know more? Join Penzance bathers Mary-Anne and Molly, who will share their secrets and take you on an adventure that brings the past to life using authentic material. The multi-media show includes physical performance, film and music.
The show includes a wealth of stories, local and national: a tea-party and a train trip; Crysede frocks and Carnival Queens; Titanic survivors and Peeping Toms. Will Mary-Anne and Molly come out of the First World War with their lives intact? And – 20 years on – what will they make of the brand-new Lido?
Camidge and Stringer are committed to bringing the past to life by revealing the lives of ordinary local people. They have developed a reputation for their vigorous – and humorous – treatments of history, which have been performed at venues throughout Cornwall. Their shows have included Dylan Thomas in Cornwall and Wilkie Collins ‘Rambles Beyond Railways’.
