Thursday 21st December - 7:15 pm
“Los Pasos Nuevos” are a quintet playing live & authentic Tango music, taking in the ‘classics’ of pre-WW2 ballroom Argentine tango songs alongside more modern music by Astor Piazzolla, and a piece specially obtained from the Italian TV composer Franco Piersanti- namely, the theme from BBC4/ RAI Detective series, “Inspector Montalbano”- a World exclusive, you can only hear this in Cornwall!
The group started up a year ago to play at ‘Milongas’ for tango dance enthusiasts. During 2017, the original quartet of Marc Hadley (woodwind & voice) Lucetta Radcliffe (accordion & voice) Matt Scott (guitar) and David Ellis (acoustic bass) played Carn to Cove venues on behalf of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and recently, two sell-out nights at The Duchy Of Cornwall Nurseries’ Café. They are all familiar to Cornish audiences via their work with ‘Kabasa!’ and ‘Radio Rio’.
The group are now augmented by a new member, violinist Annabel Lainchbury, previously well-known in Penzance not only for her orchestral and chamber-music work but also as the featured soloist in “The Mighty Bucca Du.”
Tango dancers are most welcome, as a ‘Milonga’ is an experience of both music and dance
