Liam Jordan - Debut Album Launch Party

Born and established in Penzance, Cornwall; Liam Jordan is an Americana/Nu-folk singer-songwriter and street poet, who started out fronting a secondary school rock band with some good friends at the age of fourteen, and eventually gained a reputation as a street performer and ‘young gun’ entertainer in folk clubs and bars around the southwest. It was in and amongst the local music scene where Jordan met some of his musical mentors and picked up all the tricks and techniques he would need for the following fourteen years of his career.

In his late teens, Liam Jordan moved to Brighton to breathe the same air as songwriting hero Nick Cave, where he performed on a nightly basis around the local circuit and attended Brighton Institute of Modern Music where he studied songwriting.

It was there that Jordan started showcasing his original material at festivals such as Brighton Fringe, White Night and The Great Escape, and performed in many famous venues such as Brighton Pavilion and Komedia.

Jordan eventually moved back to Cornwall and has since then been working hard, gigging on average 200+ gigs per year and gaining a reputation for himself as one of the hardest working musicians in the southwest. He also supported comedy legend John Bishop for two sold-out nights at Redruth’s Regal Theatre last year and sung The Beatles classic ‘All My Loving on John Bishop’s personal Twitter page followed, by 3.7M people.

Nodding a respectful head to acoustic troubadours such as Steve Earle, Ryan Adams and Bob Dylan; Jordan (accompanied by his acoustic guitar and rack harmonicas) and his band could easily pass as a traveling blues band in a Van Morrison/gospel like format in one song, and quickly shift into to a heart-pounding Springsteen-esque stadium rock song about working-class injustice for another.

His first single release ‘Tap At My Window’ recently aired on David White’s BBC Introducing show (BBC Radio Cornwall) and has drawn a lot of attention and hype to the album since.

The self-titled debut album is now due for release here at The Acorn Theatre on Friday the 11th May. Support will be by his partner, Jenny Bishop (accompanied by Richard Evans on trumpet), and one other support act is also to be confirmed.
