Lullaby Penzance – Kelsey Michael & band
With titles like Mounts bay Morning, Swimming and Gry Maritha, Kelsey manages to take daily rhythms and the flow of the seasons, distilling them into musical gems. Kelsey’s career includes live work and recording with The High Llamas, touring with The The, and providing vocals for Jocelyn Pook’s soundtrack for Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Eyes wide shut’.
An energetic contributor to community music in Penwith, Kelsey curated the popular Fruit Tree Songwriters nights series at The Acorn to showcase risk-taking local songwriters. She also leads Land and Sea Singers and sings with Shindig Cloggers.
If you love a good tune with a great hook and a rip-roaring chorus, then this is for you!
Lucy Birbeck arrived in Botallack in 1980 and was hurtled into her creative career with Theatre Rotto then Kneehigh and Wildworks. Musically she has been part of some great Cornish bands including Les Poupees, Les Jazz Ott, Rotto Sisters, The Planters and Acorn Cabaret Band. Lucy’s writing/performing oeuvre has been a more recent string. She describes songwriting as something she did ‘compulsively at home with plenty of wine! Lucy will be joined by superb violinist Alan Samuels. She brings her songs of loss and fog on the north coast laced with a splurge of humour and irony to keep the wolf of sad truth from the door.
