International Women’s Day Charity Cabaret 2020

International Women’s Day Charity Cabaret 2020

For the ninth year running, a charity cabaret marking International Women’s Day will take place at the Acorn Penzance, on Saturday, March 7th.

Held in celebration of women everywhere – our struggles, strengths and achievements – proceeds this year will again support PLAN (educating girls globally) and other local charities supporting women and children.

This year’s fabulous line up features music from acoustic duo Campion, folk singer, Chris Symons, comedy chanteuse, Joan Oliver, and the brilliant Smith Family Trio, as well as dance performances by The Dinner Ladies and Fountains Ensemble. Other acts include: stand-up comedienne Julie Stone, Jane Pugh sharing her latest anecdotal wisdoms, Sarah Connors’ skit about being childfree, a brief history of Women’s Public Toilets, courtesy of Jak Stringer and Linda Camidge, aerialist Ruth Hawkley on hoop, a short film by Martha Dixon about Merryn’s Home – an orphanage in Kenya, the cabaret has supported previously – and much, much more.

The magnificent Marys are our marvellous Mistresses of Ceremony once again –with more costume changes than Kylie, their hilarious antics on-stage are always a highlight of the evening’s entertainment. Not forgetting the terrific tombola, epic silent auction and after-party in the bar, helping raise money on the night.

Held in celebration of women everywhere – our struggles, strengths and achievements – proceeds this year will again be going to PLAN (educating girls globally) and charities supporting women. Dress as your favourite heroine, and bring a bra for our Big Bra Box, raising money for breast cancer research. Everyone welcome, tickets at £10/£8 conc/£6 kids available through the Acorn Box Office, book early to avoid disappointment as it sells out every year. Doors open 7pm for 8pm curtain up.
