Saturday 27th January - 8:00 pm
Hannah White is coming back to The Acorn, Penzance for an incredibly intimate performance to promote her upcoming release of ‘Elephant Eye’, the latest album from the fiercely independent and distinctly political singer-songwriter, Hannah White. With gripping production from Nigel Stonier (Thea Gilmore, Martha Wainwright, Joan Baez) and instrumental contributions from AMA 2017 Instrumentalist of the Year Chris J Hillman (Billy Bragg, Joe Purdy), Paul Beavis (Andy Fairweather Low, Sandi Thom) and Jimmy Forres (adding a touch of Tom Waits) the album embodies Hannah’s characteristically catchy, sunny melodies which dance above greyer areas and cloudier depths.
Hannah is a London-based Americana/Country artist who is incredibly compelling. Her music has been played on national radio such as BBC radio, Amazing Radio & Chris Country as well various BBC Regional radio stations across the UK. Her music videos have been featured internationally on the Phil Mack Country TV Show and she has had the honour of performing live alongside multi-Grammy award winner Tim O’Brien, Thea Gilmore, Judie Tzuke, Ben Haenow and Laurence Fox to glowing reviews as well as being invited personally by BBC Radio 2’s Whispering Bob Harris to perform on his Under The Apple Tree Sessions.
Acoustic Magazine describe Hannah as “arresting and wholly believable”. Country People Magazine said Hannah is “the Amy Winehouse of UK Americana”, Fatea Magazine describe her as being full of “heartbreaking honesty and emotional force” and R2 Magazine said she shares “a truly believable message”.
