A slightly more light-hearted film this month to debate the ethics of. And it involves a word not used much these days, "miscegenation". As well as having the wonderful vocal talents of Irene Dunne, Alan Jones and the fabulous Paul Robeson "Showboat" also had a more serious side to it. Miscegenation (the marriage between two different races) was illegal in most states in America at this time and this is addressed in the film. Have we moved forward since then? We still discriminate, quite often in an institutional way, "Equality and Diversity is quoted regularly, Brexit was as much about immigration as anything else. Where are we when it comes to racial acceptance?
Come along and watch the film and then stay to debate its place in the world.
The Acorn Arts Centre is a venue built for voice so come and find out how good it really is....
Unfortunately none of today's walks are available but please check on 17th or 23rd December for alternative dates / times....
